Michael Wells

Michael practises in commercial and corporations law and specialises in taxation and revenue law.

He has appeared led and unled in applications, trials and appeals in a range of courts (including the ACT Supreme Court, NSW Supreme Court, Federal Court and High Court) and tribunals (including the ACT Civil & Administrative Tribunal and Administrative Appeals Tribunal). He also has a substantial advice practice.

Before coming to the Bar, he was Tipstaff and Researcher to President of the New South Wales Court of Appeal (the Hon Justice J L B Allsop AC) and practised as a solicitor at Allens, Herbert Smith Freehills and Corrs Chambers Westgarth.

He is a member of various taxation committees including the Australian Bar Association Taxation Committee and is Deputy Chair of the Tax Institute Dispute Resolution Technical Committee.

He is also a reporter for the Commonwealth Law Reports.
